Dampier

Thursday 30th
When we came in on Monday the lady at the visitors centre gave all the kids these booklets that they had to fill in and do and if they completed it they would get a badge to say they were a junior ranger. They were very excited about this and kept at it all the time we were staying there. So before we left we went and gave it to our camp hosts and they looked through the booklets , had a laugh and gave each kid a badge. The kids loved it and had a good time doing them.
We headed out to the Great Northern Highway and stopped at the Munjina roadhouse.
These huge trucks all lined up!
And red. Red dust on all of it.
Some are tridrive and some twin steer. These are the real road trains. Look how many wheels. So long.
We headed to Wittenoom and then onto a dirt road heading to Dampier. The road wasn't too bad but the water gutters would take us by surprise and a lot of the road had corrugation. We came out on the North West Coastal Highway near Dampier and just found a park spot to camp for the night. As we pulled up we assessed the damage on our caravan from the kms of dirt road with decent sized rocks.
Our outback caravan with the red dust!

The rocks had flicked up and broke off our tap and our water tank under the caravan was empty. Thankfully we had our 20L full. The kids went around and found lots of little things inside and out of the caravan had come loose or had fallen off. We are very blessed though that nothing we can't fix.  It did make getting to a caravan park more important then before though.
