Wednesday 29th
As we entered Dales camp grounds on Monday there are signs up warning us not to feed the dingos. We saw a dingo as we drove into Tom Price on Saturday but haven't seen one since.
We decided to hop in the car and drive to another gorge and Tim hadn't done any 4wd yet so we went to Kalamina gorge that was meant to test out our vehicle, but it wasn't too bad.He let the tyres down to 30psi and we had a smooth ride over the corrugation.
This is the main waterfall there. The rocks make great steps.
The gorge never really got very wide, just snaked around like this. We had to do a bit of rock climbing as the water came right up to both sides. Amazing red again.
I don't think we got to the pool that we were aiming for but we couldn't get any further as the water came up both sides. So the kids swam there. It was a little cold but looked amazing swimming right up to the walls of the gorge.
The rocks are layered as steps under the water but are very slippery as you see Baylee sliding down into the water!
It was a little cold for Zane and Manning so they climbed up on a ledge above where Tim and I were sitting.
The kids played in the water as we walked back through the gorge but they eventually got out for good when they found their bodies covered with black worm like things which we thought could be leaches!
In the afternoon we swam at Fern pool and Fortesque falls and we said goodbye to the gorges and pools there as we climbed up out of the gorge. The sun was setting and the bats were waking up.
