Saturday 22nd
We awoke to no cattle or crocodiles around our caravan so we were happy about that, but we did see some quite big rocks that we parked on top of. That's what happens when you pull off to camp when it is dark! We got away safely and got into Katherine.
We took a photo of this as this was one of the first things we saw. Helicopters for sale, helicopters for rent! We normally see tractor dealers back home. This is just larger and inaccessible country up here. Another thing that we are seeing a lot is one side of the road is burnt, and this has been going on for quite a while. We think it is fire breaks and is a good thing as the grass is over 2m tall and dry. Just ready for a bush fire!
We stopped at the information centre then I rang the Tumbling Waters caravan park in Berry Springs, just out of Darwin. This park was highly recommended to us by a couple that we met in the Kununurra caravan park. The Tumbling Waters caravan park was full but they had an over flow area that was non powered and after talking to Tim we decided to go there hoping that we might get a powered site soon even though they said it would take 2 weeks. We had decided to get to Darwin as soon as we could as Tim wanted to get to Adelaide for a while so we will do the national parks around Katherine on our way back.
Pine Creek and Adelaide River were pretty little towns.
We arrived at the caravan park about 6pm and unpacked , ate tea and washed dishes real quick as in the park they have Saturday night movies under the stars and the kids wanted to go and watch the movie. The weather is fantastic. Around 30 each day. No wind. Mostly sunny!
